Edna longs for affection with her husband and slowly begins to question why she married her husband. Her husband continues to poke at her due to her lack of desire to be like the other wives.
She begins to create her own form of lust with Robert. But that lust turns to love and her feelings continue to grow for him even after he leaves. But Edna can’t seem to remain faithful to one man. She lacks the lust she was receiving from Robert and begins another romantic relationship with Alcéè. It seems as though multiple relationships grew tiresome for Edna and she wants to remain with Robert.
Plot: Edna is madly in love with Robert.
Exposition: Edna leaves her husband and grows further away from her and her family. The only thing she wants to do is spend time with Robert.

Climax: Edna grows extremely depressed when Robert flees to Mexico to escape the love that he has for Edna.
Falling Action: When Robert returns it seems that Edna's happiness has returned.
